WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Dartmouth ski team continued its EISA season this past weekend, competing at the Williams Carnival. The Big Green took overall wins in six of the eight races, earning the Carnival win with 935 total points.
The Williams Carnival kicked off with the 15K Freestyle and Giant Slalom on Friday, February 13.
Cooper Camp led the way for the men, finishing seventh overall with a time of 21.31.5.
First-year
Tory Hoffman was the next Dartmouth finisher, claiming 13
th overall (25:50.6), his best freestyle finish of the season.
Aidan Jacobus rounded out the top-20, finishing 19
th with a time of 26:10.3.
Dustin Hay was 1.2 seconds behind Jacobus, finishing 21
st, crossing the line in 26:11.5.
Aaron Power finished next (26:17.8), followed by
Jack Lange (26:19.5) and
Henry Magill (27:12.9).
On the women's side,
Ava Thurston won her second freestyle race of the year and fifth overall, claiming the top spot with a time of 27:31.3, winning the race by 16.1 seconds.
Evie Walton and
Amelia Tucker rounded out the top-10, finishing back-to-back in sixth and seventh. Walton finished in 28:31 while Tucker crossed the line in 28:50.4.
Caroline Menna was the next Big Green finisher, claiming 15
th overall with a time of 29:49.
Maeve Ingelfinger (30:33.3),
Grace Zanni (31:08.6),
Helen Townley (31:11.0),
Adele Horning (31:50.2),
Virginia Cobb (33:01.1) and
Ava Schneider (34:04.5) also finished for the Big Green.
Over at Jiminy Peak, the Big Green swept wins on the Giant Slalom.
Oscar Zimmer on the men's side won his first giant slalom race of the season while
Emma Resnick earned her first career EISA win for the women.
Zimmer earned first overall with a total time of 1:31.68. His 47.18 second run time was second best of the field.
Heming Sola also earned his best GS finish of the season, claiming second overall with a time of 1:31.89. His 43.92 first run time was the field's best.
Sawyer Reed and
Benny Brown were the next Big Green finishers, going back-to-back to claim 16
th and 17
th overall. Reed finished in 1:33.35 followed by Brown with a time of 1:33.42.
Louis De Pourtales was the final Dartmouth finisher, posting a combined 1:35.95.
Philip Lundquist and
Dan Gillis also suited up for the Big Green but did not finish their respective runs.
Resnick earned the win for the women, her best finish of the season as well as her first career EISA win. She posted a combined time of 1:34.75 and a field best 45.33 first run time.
Carly Elsinger was the next Dartmouth finisher, finishing just two one hundredths of a second off the podium, claiming fourth overall with a time of 1:35.38.
Riley Grosdider rounded out the top-10 for the Big Green, finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:36.07.
Emma Reynolds finished just outside the top-10, taking 11
th overall with a time of 1:36.26, just four one hundredths of a second out of tenth.
Sammi Trudeau was the next Dartmouth finisher, finishing 18
th overall with a time of 1:36.72.
Zoe Zimmermann (1:36.93) and Noemie Longchamps (1:38.89) also finished for the Big Green.
After Day One of the Williams Carnival, the Big Green were in first place with 452 total points. Dartmouth recorded the most points in both the men's and women's alpine races as well as the women's Nordic race.
On Saturday, the men's and women's Nordic teams raced in the 3x5 Classic Relay while the alpine team skied the slalom.
At Prospect Mountain, Dartmouth's men's relay team came in second overall, finishing just 1.1 seconds out of first place. The first women's relay team, consisting of
Amelia Tucker,
Ava Thurston and
Evie Walton won the race, posting a combined time of 49:10.1, 5.8 seconds better than the second-place team.
The Dartmouth women also had a second relay team that finished seventh overall with a time of 52:04.8.
Zimmer and Sola went first and second for the second time this weekend, this time on the slalom. Zimmer skied to the win, his third slalom win of the season and fourth overall, posting a time of 1:34.89. His 46.79 run one time was the field's best while his 48.1 second run time was tied for fourth best.
Sola claimed second overall with a time of 1:35.33. His 46.95 first run time was second best, only behind his teammate Zimmer, while his 48.38 run two time was sixth best.
Lundquist claimed seventh overall with a time of 1:36.27. Reed finished 12
th with a time of 1:37.28 to round out the top-20.
Gillis, De Pourtales, and Brown all suited up for the Big Green, but were unable to finish their runs.
On the women's side, Zimmermann took the win, finishing in 1:35.79. Both her first run time (47.27) and second run time (48.52) led the field, as she combined to win the race by over a second.
Resnick claimed her second podium of the weekend, finishing third with a time of 1:37.95.
Trudeau and Elsinger also claimed spots in the top-10. Trudeau finished seventh overall, posting a time of 1:38.60 while Elsinger finished ninth, posting a 1:38.93.
Reynolds finished in 1:39.76, taking 13
th overall, closely followed by Grosdidier in 15
th with a total time of 1:39.97.
Longchamps also suited up for the Big Green but did not finish her first run.
The Big Green finished the Williams Carnival in first, posting a dominant win with 935 total points, beating second-place UVM by 181 points.
Dartmouth skiing will be back in action this upcoming weekend at the Middlebury Carnival, the final EISA Carnival. It will also act as the NCAA Regional and EISA Championship, as the Big Green look for their second straight EISA Championship.
Competition will kick off with the 7.5K Classic and slalom on Friday, February 20 followed by the 20k Freestyle and Giant Slalom on Saturday, February 21. Results will be available on DartmouthSports.com.
