PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth men's tennis wrapped up competition at the ECAC Indoor Championships with three matches in Princeton, N.J., facing Princeton, Harvard and Brown over the weekend.
"Throughout the weekend we had half of our team battling through sickness and injury. With three tough matches, we mixed and matched all available nine guys to produce the best lineup we could each day," Justin DeSanto, the John Kenfield and Chuck Kinyon Head Coach of Men's Tennis, said. "Throughout the weekend we continued to adapt and it was great to see the guys grit out a win over a very tough Brown squad."
Dartmouth opened play Friday against Princeton, falling 4-0. The Tigers secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In singles, Princeton earned straight-set victories at No. 3, 5 and 6 to clinch the match. On Saturday, the Big Green matched up with Harvard, dropping a 4-0 decision. The Crimson claimed the doubles point before adding three singles wins in straight sets to close out the contest.
Dartmouth bounced back Sunday with a strong 4-3 showing against Brown, played across three courts. The Big Green earned the doubles point behind a 6-3 victory from Miles Groom and Henry Ren, followed by a hard-fought 7-6(6) win from Denny Bao and Kornel Halmos. In singles play, Groom delivered a 6-1, 6-3 win, while Leo Pade battled to a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Bao added a 6-3, 6-2 triumph to help Dartmouth secure the team win and close the championship on a high note.
