Dartmouth Set An Ivy League Record With a -14 Second Round

VIERA, Fla.—Dartmouth women's golf had a historic weekend at the Space Coast Classic presented by MoonGolf to open the spring season. The Big Green shot -3 as a team to win the tournament. Olivia Cong finished tied for first at -6 on the weekend.

The Big Green opened the tournament by shooting +10 in the opening round on Saturday. Claire Wan was the top player in the opening round for Dartmouth as she shot a -1 71. She had three birdies while tallying 13 pars.

Cong finished the opening round with a +3 75, Sophia Li and Hope Hall each shot a +4 76 in the opening round.

The second round on Saturday was a historic round for the Big Green as the team finished -14 to set a new Ivy League record. Sophie Thai had her best round of the season by shooting a -7 65. She started the round with a birdie on three and carded birdies on six, nine, 12, and 16. On the par five 15^th she added an eagle.

Cong was right behind her as she finished with a -6 66. She bookended her round with birdies on the second hole and on the first hole which was her final hole of the round. She finished with seven birdies in the round.

Li carded a -1 71 with six birdies while Hall closed the day at even. Claire Wan was finished +4 in the second round.

In the third and final round, Cong carded a 69 to finish the day three under and the event six under which tied her for first. Li finished even in the tournament by shooting an even 72 in the third round while finishing 12^th overall.

Wan carded a 73 on Sunday in the third round as she notched a birdie on the 14^th hole. Thai finished her tournament by shooting a 75 in the third round. She had birdies on the sixth and ninth holes. She finished the three round tournament tied for 16^th at +4.

Hall closed out her first tournament of the spring by shooting a 78 on Sunday. The senior finished tied for 27^th at +10.

Lauren Pham played as an individual and finished 18^th for the Big Green. She finished with a +3 75 in the opening round and then turned in back-to-back rounds of 73 to close out the tournament.

The Big Green have the next month to prepare for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. The tournament starts on March 23 and concludes the following day.
