LAKE PLACID, N.Y—The ECAC announced its Tim Taylor Coach of the Year recipient on Thursday at its annual banquet in Lake Placid, N.Y. For the second time in three years, Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey, Reid Cashman has been named ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year.
Cashman has led Dartmouth to one of the best seasons in program history in 2025-26. The Big Green currently have 21 wins which ties the program record which was originally set in the 1941-42 season and matched again in the 1947-48 season and are currently ranked ninth in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey polls. Dartmouth has been ranked in the top 20 for 18 straight weeks which is the longest streak in program history. The Big Green also went 16-1-2 at Thompson Arena, the 16 wins is tied for the most home wins in a season in program history.
The Big Green are fifth in the country in winning percentage while being third in penalty killing percentage, fourth in scoring margin, sixth in scoring defense and eighth in scoring offense. Dartmouth also has the second least penalty minutes in the country at 6.72 penalty minutes per game.
Cashman took over the Dartmouth program in 2020 and coached his first game in the 2021-22 season following the COVID-19 pandemic. After winning a combined 13 games between 2021-23 the Big Green went 13-10-9 in 2023-24 and earned a spot in the ECAC Semifinals. In 2024-25 the Big Green finished 18-13-2 and advanced to the ECAC Semifinals for the second straight season.
The Big Green bench boss has now been named ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year twice while also being named Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
Multiple Big Green players have earned ECAC Hockey and Ivy League major awards under Cashman. In 2025-26, Hayden Stavroff has been named ECAC Player of the Year, Ivy League Player of the Year, and is a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and leads the country in goals with 28 while having a career high 47 points. Last season, CJ Foley was named Ivy League Player of the Year while being a finalist for ECAC Player of the Year. Cashman has also helped multiple players sign NHL contracts during his time with the Big Green, including Clay Stevenson, Cooper Black, Luke Haymes, and Cooper Flinton.
No. 9 Dartmouth takes on Clarkson in the ECAC Semifinals on Friday, Mar. 19 at 4 PM at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. The winner will take on the winner of Cornell and Princeton on Saturday, Mar. 20 at 5. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
