CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth women's rugby competed in the Ivy 7s Championship, Saturday, finishing in second. The Big Green A side posted a 2-1 record in pool play before finishing the tournament second overall, while the B Side won their division with a perfect 3-0 record.
The Dartmouth A team opened play with a dominant 38-10 win over Princeton. Annie Henrich led the Big Green with 11 total points, scoring a try and adding three conversions. Marley Larkin also scored double digit points against the Tigers, scoring two tries for ten total points. Vasiti Turagavou, Katija Crawford, and Katelyn Walker also found their way onto the scoresheet, adding one try each.
The Big Green then went on to defeat the Brown Bears, 25-0. Larkin once again led Dartmouth with two tries for ten points. Henrich, Turagavou, and Crawford also tallied a try in the win.
Dartmouth's lone loss of Pool A play came against the Harvard Crimson. Arielle Fotso was the lone member of the Big Green to get on the board scoring the try in the 22-5 loss.
Harvard, sitting at 3-0 through pool play, and the Big Green, posting a 2-1 record, lined up for a rematch in the Ivy 7s Championship game. Larkin got the Big Green on the board, but Harvard also won the Championship game, 22-5.
On the B Side, the Big Green started the day with a 17-10 win over Brown. Jordyn LeBeau led the way in scoring, tallying two tries and adding a conversion, scoring 12 of the Big Green's 17 total points. Hansen scored the other try for the Big Green.
Against the Tigers, the Big Green posted a dominant 30-5 win over Princeton. Dartmouth saw six players find their way onto the scoresheet as Morgan Whelan, Sierra Santiago, Reece Moody, Maura Hough, Jenna Sheldon, and Sadie Williams each tallied a try.
In the final B pool match, Dartmouth claimed a 24-19 win over the Crimson to win the Plate Division with a perfect 3-0 record. LeBeau once again led Dartmouth in scoring, tallying two tries and two conversions for 14 total points, bringing her tournament total to 26, leading the Big Green across both pools. Whelan and Santiago each added their second tries of the day against the Crimson.
The Big Green will now shift their focus to the 7s National Championship, hosted in Indianapolis in two weeks. Dartmouth looks to win its second straight national championship after defeating Life last year, 31-0.
