PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Dartmouth women's rowing team competed against Brown on Saturday on the Seekonk River, racing in challenging conditions that included choppy water and gusting winds.
"We are still early on in the process, but I think the team is beginning to see glimpses of the type of length and rhythm we will need to run with top crews later this spring. Brown is always a tough competitor and I know our team really enjoyed the opportunity to match up against a top 10 team to see where we are."
John Graves, The Elizabeth C. McNabb Head Coach of Women's Rowing, said.
Brown won the Varsity Eight with a time of 6:10.3, while Dartmouth finished second in 6:17.8. In the second Varsity Eight, the Bears again placed first in 6:13.9 with the Big Green following in 6:28.8.
Dartmouth turned in a strong performance in the Varsity Four, finishing just three seconds behind Brown. The Bears recorded a time of 6:51.2, while the Big Green crossed in 6:54.2.
The closest race of the day came in the third Varsity Eight, where Brown narrowly edged Dartmouth. Brown finished in 6:32.5, while Dartmouth followed closely in 6:33.7.
In the Second Varsity Four, Dartmouth posted a time of 7:11.6, finishing just behind Brown's 7:09.2.
