Women's Rowing
vs Gardner Cup
Q & A with Madeline Lyons
Why Dartmouth?
The day I stepped on to campus, I had an instant gut reaction that this was the place for me. I am a New England girl at heart, and Hanover is a beautiful, quintessential New England town. Dartmouth's academic priorities and standards fit mine, and the team dynamic and coaching is beyond anything I could have hoped for. The Dartmouth community is so warm and welcoming that the college immediately felt like home.
How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?
I started rowing my freshman year of high school. One of my best friends had rowed the previous year and convinced me to try it out. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I've never looked back.
What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?
I've broken over a dozen bones -- I'm a bit accident prone.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?
I haven't had a chance to really get involved with anything else during my first term here, but I really want to get involved with Model UN and take part in community service.
What are your future plans, if any?
I really just want to enjoy and appreciate my time here. I also really want to travel after I graduate. Right now, the plan is to major in history and start considering law school, but I'll see where Dartmouth takes me!
