Was a four year letter winner in rowing at Redwood High School. She was voted captain of her team senior year. Freshman and senior year her team won the silver medal in the Southwest Regional Championship. Outside of athletics she was treasurer of her class, a member of the Marin National Charity League, she was a San Francisco Debutante, and a member of the Redwood Honor Society.
Lela is the daughter of John and Lindsay McCrea and she has one brother and one sister. Her grandfather, Tom McCrea attended Dartmouth class of 1953.
