Q & A with Ian Delaney
Why Dartmouth?
I chose to come to Dartmouth for one main reason over other top tier schools. Hanover was probably the most beautiful college campus that I visited and I just could not get the same feeling if I was in a city or even at other more rural campuses.
How long have you been rowing and what interests you about rowing?
I have been rowing since freshman year of high school. Since around 4th grade I had been doing a lot of very cardio related sports (xc-running, xc-skiing and swimming). I gave rowing a try freshman year when I had been having knee problems and found that I got the same satisfaction that I received from other sports that I had been doing, plus I really enjoyed the team aspect of rowing. I also find that I tend to be very competitive and a rowing race is a great stage for competition.
Have you won any awards?
I can't think of any awards per se but junior year of high school I was in a lightweight 4+ that placed 4th at youth nationals.
Something interesting about youself?
I love the outdoors and really enjoy hiking or camping with my family.
