Sailing - Open & Women's
vs Regis Trophy
Why Dartmouth?
Dartmouth offers a lot of things I truly value in a college: a liberal arts education, a dynamic community of amazing students, a highly competitive sailing team, and elite academic opportunities. Finding schools where these traits intersect is difficult. Of the schools that offer all of these things, only Dartmouth offers a tight-knit community feel with a small student body and a a multitude of outdoors opportunities.
How long have you been sailing and what got you interested in sailing?
I have sailed since I was in Kindergarten. My parents are both avid sailors, and they immersed me in my island's sailing community from the very beginning. Being surrounded by a sailing family and a sailing community made it impossible to avoid falling in love with the sport.
What Sailing or Academic achievements are you particularly proud of?
I am proud of qualifying for high School Team Race Nationals in three consecutive years with my team, serving as captain of my high school sailing team, and becoming a National Merit Scholar.
Tell us something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
I secretly dream of dropping off the radar entirely and living life as a minimalist, living off the land and immersing myself in nature.
What are your future sailing and career plans?
I plan to commit myself deeply to sailing for four years, then seek a job in politics while continuing to sail competitively in my own time.
What sports or activities did you pursue in high school, and what do you hope to continue at Dartmouth?
I sailed in high school (both on my school team and on my own), played on a tournament ice hockey team, coached and refereed hockey, and volunteered as a tutor. Of course, I plan to continue sailing in college. I also hope to continue playing hockey to some extent, and working as a tutor.
