Just three months after graduating from Dartmouth with the Class of 2022, Young joined the skiing staff as the Nordic assistant in September. She was promoted to assistant coach for the discipline and has a hand in all aspects of the program ahead of the 2024 season.
Young will enter her second season as an assistant coach for the 2025 season.
The summer after graduation, Young spent time as the assistant for the Green Racing Project in Craftsbury, Vermont, which included planning workouts and providing new ideas for training routes for professional skiers in the elite training program. She also spent the prior summer working as a coaching intern for the Craftsbury Ski Programs, working with individuals from elementary-aged children through professional athletes.
As a student-athlete for the Big Green, Young was an All-East Second Team performer as a senior captain during the 2022 season, during which she had seven top-10 finishes including a stop on the podium at the Vermont Carnival where she placed second in the freestyle sprint. She also supplied points to the Big Green team score in eight of her 11 races and was an alternate for the NCAA Skiing Championships. The 2021 USCSCA National Collegiate All-Academic Team member competed in 26 carnival races in her career with 12 top-10 performances and was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years.
A native of Jay, Vermont, Young also was named to the USA World Junior team in 2020 and the U18 Scandinavian Cup team in 2018. She was a double major at Dartmouth in biology and geography, earning her degree in 2022.
