Mitch Smucker enters his second season on the Dartmouth College men’s basketball staff, serving as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations. Smucker proved himself as an invaluable asset during his first year (2014-15) in Hanover, taking on many responsibilities including compliance, recruiting, team travel, practice planning and film breakdown.
Smucker came to Dartmouth after spending two seasons as the video coordinator at the University of Delaware. There his primary duties included coordinating all aspects of film exchange, creating video scouts for upcoming opponents, breaking down each of Delaware’s games and filming practices. He also served as the coordinator of the team’s student managers and was a commissioner for the Monté Ross Basketball Camp. During his time at Delaware, the Blue Hens compiled a record of 44-24, winning the Colonial Athletic Association regular season and tournament championships in his final season, resulting in the school's first NCAA tournament berth since 1999.
A 2012 graduate of Millersville University, Smucker has developed an extensive basketball background. Having spent the final two years of his undergraduate work dually enrolled at Temple University, Smucker was able to serve as a student manager for the Owls’ men’s basketball squad. There he assisted the coaching staff with setup and tear down of practice, on-court practice drills and individual workouts.
Before his time at Temple, Smucker seved as an assistant coach at Lancaster County Christian School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Additionally, Smucker has traveled the country working different basketball camps which include stops at the University of Texas, Marquette University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Delaware and Xavier University. He has also served in various roles with Hoop Group Elite and Zero Gravity Basketball.
Smucker resides in White River Junction, Vermont.
