Before Dartmouth: Attended Oyster River High School where he was a four-year letter winner in cross country and track & field...Captain of both teams junior and senior year...In his junior and senior years, he attended the NH Meet of Championships, finishing first times... Was the Division II State Champion in cross country in 2015 and 2016... The NH Runner of the Year his senior year... A New England Champion in the indoor 2-mile in 2017... A five-time state champion in both indoor and outdoor track... Earned all-New Hampshire recognition eight times in his high school career.

Personal: Son of Michael and Cathy O'Brien...Has one brother...Mother is a two-time United States Olympic Marathoner, 1988 and 1992... A member of the National Honors Society.
