Q & A with Edward Harvey
Why Dartmouth?
I chose Dartmouth because of its New England setting, size, and commitment to liberal arts and undergraduate teaching.
How long have I been rowing and what sparked my interest?
I actually started rowing for the first time during my sophomore fall. I ran track and cross country in high school and was highly involved with the Dartmouth Endurance Racing Team during my freshmen year at Dartmouth. I wanted to be more athletically involved and competitive, so I decided to try rowing because my brother and many of my friends were enjoying it. Although many of my friends in high school were serious rowers, I never had any intention of rowing until college. It's been quite fun and rewarding thus far.
Have I won any awards?
I have not yet received any rowing awards. I did win the men's under 20 division at the Manchester Half Marathon during my freshmen year, however.
Something interesting about yourself?
I had a brief stint on the nordic ski team during my freshmen year. A collision with a parked bus while rolling skiing contributed to the brevity of this experience.
