James joins the Dartmouth College Strength and Conditioning staff in June of 2019 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He is responsible for both open and women's sailing, alpine skiing, equestrian, and women's rugby.
James came to Dartmouth from UConn where he was a strength and conditioning assistant and oversaw men’s and women’s track and field/cross country and diving, along with assisting with men’s and women’s hockey and swimming. Prior to UConn he was a graduate assistant at Springfield College in charge of men’s volleyball, men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s sprints/hurdles, and baseball. While at Springfield College James won a National Championship with the men’s volleyball team.
James graduated from UConn in 2012 with a B.S. in Exercise Science with a focus in strength and conditioning, and a minor in psychology. He attended graduate school at Springfield College and is currently finishing up his Masters of Science in Exercise Science with a focus in strength and conditioning.
He is certified through USA Weightlifting as a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach. He also holds certifications in Functional Movement Screen and Reflexive Performance Reset.
James played junior hockey in Connecticut for the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack and played club ice hockey for Springfield College. He is from Mystic, Conn. where he went to high school at Robert E. Fitch high school. While there he lettered in ice hockey and lacrosse, and was an all-conference first team selection twice in ice hockey.
James’ parents Glenn and Susan still reside in Mystic, he also has a younger sister Rachel.
