Ben True ’08 joined the cross country and track & field staff as a volunteer assistant coach in September 2022.
True is currently a professional distance runner based out of Hanover. He holds the American record in the 5km road race, placed sixth at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in the 5,000m race, sixth at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and became the first American to win a Diamond League 5,000m.
No stranger to Dartmouth, the 2008 graduate was a three-sport athlete with the Big Green cross country, nordic skiing and track & field programs. True was a three-time Ivy League Heptagonal champion in cross country while leading the team to a championship in 2005. He was a member of the 2007 NCAA championship skiing team. True was a two-time recipient of the Alfred E. Watson trophy which honors Dartmouth’s most outstanding male varsity athlete of the year.
