I was trying to decide between a school with a long-standing tradition of rowing prowess and here. I chose Dartmouth because I didn't just want to be another face on the wall of a big, established boathouse. I know that big changes were coming when Wendy started coaching, and I wanted to be a part of a crucial moment in Dartmouth Rowing history--I wanted to go to a school where I could make a difference, where I could see changes in a few short years. Also the team had the best chemistry of any school I visited!
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I'm about to start my 8th year of coxing - I started in high school as a freshman when a tall senior told me that "they needed short loud people at the boathouse", and I should run on down for tryouts ASAP. Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
I love cooking and baking so much - none of them know, because I'm fine with leaving the team dinners for 40 to other people! But I do make pies in secret for my roommates.
What are your future plans, if any?
I'm going to take a year or two off before I head to med school, but I don't know what specialty I'm going into yet.
