Women's Rowing
vs Gardner Cup
Q and A with Molly
Why Dartmouth?
I chose Dartmouth because it offered top notch academics, a gorgeous setting, and an incredible group of people both in and outside of the boathouse. When I visited Dartmouth, I was impressed by the friendliness of everyone I met as well as their sincere enthusiasm for their school. While visiting classes I was inspired by the professors and their genuine interest in their students and their teaching. The campus was beautiful and I liked that it was the perfect size so that I could walk everywhere. Finally, I was incredibly drawn to the highly competitive and dedicated, yet supportive nature of the women's rowing program. Under Wendy's leadership and coaching, the girls on the team seemed so motivated to give their all and do their best everyday both for themselves and for their teammates. I knew I wanted to become a part of it and that Dartmouth was the place for me.
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I learned to row the summer after 6th grade at a week long day camp but I began rowing competitively on my high school team in 9th grade and never looked back. I can honestly say that I have fallen even more in love with rowing after every season, especially here at Dartmouth.
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
In high school I was very involved in studio art and did a lot of painting. I even won a few art competitions and sold some of my artwork! Also I can roll a whitewater kayak on both sides and am very afraid of snakes.
What extra curricular activities are you involved with on campus?
In addition to rowing, I am involved in several other exciting and interesting things at Dartmouth. I am a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. I was president during my sophomore summer and now serve as Vice-President of Standards. I am also a research assitant in Dr. Todd Heatherton's psychology lab and do research work with graduate students and in the fMRI brain scanner. I led a freshman DOC trip the summer before my sophomore year.
What are your future plans, if any?
I hope to attend graduate school in the fall to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. Eventually I would like to work in a clinical practice with both adolescents and adults. Next year after I finish rowing I am also excited to run a marathon and try yoga! I also plan to stay in rowing shape that that I can race in the Head of the Charles with Dartmouth alumni!
