Freshman (2016-17): At the Bruno Invitational, she competed in the 50 free (24.61), 100 fly (58.33), 100 back (59.12) and 200 back (2:08.85) … swam the 100 breast (1:11.08) at the Dartmouth Invite … at Ivies, she swam the 100 fly (57.31), 100 back (58.19) and 200 back (2:07.18).
Before Dartmouth: Attended Westfield High School, where she was a four-time letterwinner in swimming … captain as a junior … school record holder (100 back, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay) … junior nationals qualifier … All-American Consideration … MVP … Rookie of the Year … Scholastic All-America … Math Honor Society … Wellesley College Book Award.
Personal: Mia Anne Newkirk is the daughter of Greg and Nancy Newkirk … has two brothers and one sister … father played football at the Naval Academy (1989-93) and mother ran track at Baldwin-Wallace (1991-95) … has driven across the country three times.
