Fall 2009: Went 4-5 in singles ... undefeated at the Big Green Invite ... 4-6 in doubles 3-0 with senior co-captain Jesse Adler.
Junior (2008-09): Competed mostly in doubles action for the Big Green, but won lone singles match of the season against Quinnipiac ... teamed up with five different partners throughout the season ... mostly played with Georgiana Smyser at No. 3 doubles ... posted a 5-8 record overall ... earned three wins with Smyser and also won with Carley Markovitz and Shelley Carpeni ... had a season-high three-game winning streak with wins against UMass, Quinnipiac and Cal State Northridge ... recorded wins in Ivy play with Smyser, winning 8-4 against Columbia and 8-6 over Penn.
Sophomore (2007-08): ITA Scholar Athlete ... went 10-3 in singles, with notable wins over BU, Davidson, and Syracuse ... won at No. 5 singles in dual match against Quinnipiac and at No. 6 singles against Coastal Carolina ... was 7-10 in doubles, posting key wins over Cornell, BU, and Rutgers ... won the Flight 5 doubles title at the Big Green Invitational ... posted a 2-1 record at Wake Forest’s Demon Deacon Classic.
Freshman (2006-07): Was 3-1 in singles play ... won at both singles and doubles in Dartmouth’s victory over Albany ... reached the second round of the Big Green Invitational ... reached the second round of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Women’s College Tennis Invitational ... defeated No. 2 seed Felicia Curcuru of Penn in a consolation match at the tourney.
Before Dartmouth: Ranked No. 28 in the USTA/Eastern section ... played No. 1 singles all four years of high school ... quarterfinalist in the New Jersey state singles tournament her senior year ... first team all non-public schools ... three-time Morris County tournament singles runner-up ... awarded the Mary Teresa Scott award, presented to the Villa Walsh student who represents the school well.
Personal: Julia Rose Zak was born Feb. 24, 1988 ... daughter of Jeffrey and Marcia Zak ... has two brothers and a sister ... member of the Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority and regularly Big Green Readers.
Why Dartmouth? I chose Dartmouth after spending time with the students at Dimensions weekend. The campus was beautiful, and the people were even more amazing. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming.
