Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2024 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers" presented by the Norwich Inn.
This installment focuses on
Annie King of women's ice hockey. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, King played in all 27 games for the Big Green during the 2021-22 season on defense.
DartmouthSports.com: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Annie King: This summer I've been staying busy with training at Floren, my classes and working at both Alumni Gym and the art galleries in the HOP, but I am hoping to squeeze in as many days at the river as possible.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
AK: Very cliché response for a hockey player, but my favorite place on campus is Thompson Arena. This facility is hands down one of the most beautiful hockey arenas within out conference and arguably within the nation. Not only is the architecture and maintenance of the facility incredible, but so is the energy that fills it!
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
AK: I'd have to go with rugby. I played in high school quite a bit so that makes it easy, but so does seeing their tremendous success this past season with all of their championships!
DS: Outside of sports, what are you most passionate about?
AK: I love being outside and being at Dartmouth makes this really easy! Whenever there are opportunities within the summer to go canoeing, kayaking, camping, etc., I immediately jump at them!
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
AK: Hanover is extremely similar in both size and population, which has allowed me to build similar connections in both towns. The people here are also very fond of the outdoors and enjoying summer, which is an exact replication of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
DS: What's the app you use most on your phone?
AK: Definitely Apple Music!
DS: What show do you binge watch?
AK: The answer could go a variety of different ways, but I think that my all-time favorite show to binge watch would be the series
Outlander.
DS: What would be your best advice to your 15-year-old self?
AK: To have patience with yourself, you are exactly where you need to be! To stay humble and continue to work and love every single thing that I do on a daily basis.
DS: If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
AK: Scotland! I've always wanted to see the Highlands, castles and so many other things.
