Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2025 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers" presented by the Norwich Inn.
This installment focuses on
Gisele Todd of the women's lacrosse team.
DartmouthSports.com: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Gisele Todd: I mostly spend my days first having lift with my teammates in the morning, then I spend the majority of the day doing my online internship in the Floren third floor study room. After that, I go to Scully-Fahey Field and practice lacrosse and then I'll do something fun with friends before dinner.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
GT: My favorite place on campus would probably have to be Scully-Fahey Field. I love the backdrop of the pine trees and I enjoy spending time there playing music and practicing lacrosse. When I am there any worries seem to melt away and there is nothing like spending time at the field.
DS: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
GT: When I first visited, I just knew immediately it was a special place that I wanted to be a part of. Coming from a small town, I am not a huge city person and I think being in the woods brings the Dartmouth community together that much more.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
GT: I would probably swap places with someone on the draw, I think it would be cool to be on the circle when the game starts and battle it out for the first possession. I feel like it sets the tone for the game and possession is important in lacrosse.
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
GT: If I could play another sport at Dartmouth, I would probably have to say it would be ice hockey. I played growing up and in high school and it is such a fun sport.
DS: Outside of sports, what are you most passionate about?
GT: I like to play with my dogs, cook and bake, garden, fish and just be outside in general.
DS: Other than your parents, who has had the greatest influence on your life?
GT: My sports coaches have made a huge impact on my life and continue to do so. I will be forever grateful for such great role models.
DS: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
GT: If I could pick an actress to play me in a movie of my life, I would choose Jennifer Lawrence because she is hilarious.
DS: What has been your best on-field memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
GT: My best on-field memory thus far in my Dartmouth career would have to be our Princeton game this past spring. A plethora of alumnae came to watch, and it was a battle until the end of the game. The win definitely set the tone for what is to come, and it was good to get the win on Scully.
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
GT: Hanover is pretty similar to where I grew up, the area is a bit more developed from where I am from. But I think I may have been drawn to Dartmouth for the familiar, small-town feeling.
DS: If you could choose one moment in sports history that you could have been at, what moment would it be and why?
GT: I would have to say the 1980 Olympics Miracle on Ice game. I live near Lake Placid, and it would have been cool to be at such an important game in our country's sports history.
DS: What is your hidden talent?
GT: My hidden talent I would have to say is leather crafting. I taught myself how to do it through YouTube videos and trial and error. I am still working on getting better at it but from the first project I ever did to now, there is quite a difference.
DS: What are your plans for your upcoming off-term?
GT: I am taking my off term this summer and I am doing an online internship.
DS: What is your favorite food to eat the night before a game?
GT: My favorite food to eat the night before a game is chicken parm.
DS: What is your favorite vacation spot?
GT: My favorite vacation spot is Lake Placid. I love the mountains, the lake, and the town and as someone who enjoys the outdoors it is a fun place to go!
DS: What would be your best advice to your 15-year-old self?
GT: Just keep working hard and things will always work out.
DS: If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
GT: On a boat on the St. Lawrence River because there is nothing like going water skiing on the river with a sunset in the background.
