LOWELL, Mass.—Dartmouth women's lacrosse closed out non-conference play in blowout fashion as the Big Green defeated UMass-Lowell 23-5 on Tuesday night.
The Big Green opened the scoring at the 12:19 mark as Samantha Bennett started a five goal run for Dartmouth. Less than two minutes later Annie Small doubled the Big Green lead. At the 8:35 mark Charlotte Myers made it a 3-0 game ahead of the media timeout. After the timeout, Ryan Hapgood and Lauren Riley scored less than a minute apart to make it a 5-0 game. Lowell scored the last goal of the first quarter and the first goal of the second quarter make it a 5-2 game.
After the River Hawks opened the scoring the second quarter, Dartmouth scored the next seven goals. Catherine Erb scored twice within 14 seconds at the 12:29 and 12:15 marks. Katie Barr then scored at the 12:08 mark before Erb completed her hat-trick at the 11:52 mark. 42 seconds later, Etta Coburn made it a 10-2 Dartmouth lead. Erb increased the lead to nine at the 9:22 mark before Mia Puccio scored the 12th Dartmouth goal. Lowell broke up the run at the 6:23 mark to stop the running clock. Erb scored twice more in the quarter before Madeline Egan scored at the 1:09 mark to give Dartmouth a 15-3 lead at halftime.
Corburn opened the scoring in the third quarter before Small scored her second goal of the game at the 8:55 mark to make it 17-3. Lowell scored at the 7:25 and 4:40 marks to make it a 12-goal game. Kate Riley scored at the 1:21 mark of the frame to give Dartmouth an 18-5 lead going to the fourth quarter.
The Big Green kept the River Hawks off the board in the fourth quarter as Avery Coleman scored her first two career goals. McLean Stokes and Emma Goodwin each added goals while Erb scored the 23rd and final goal at the 1:14 mark.
Erb had a career day offensively as she had eight points on seven goals and an assist. Myers had a goal and three assists while Barr, F. O'Keeffe, and Puccio each had three points.
Coleman, Coburn, and Small each had two goals while 14 different players scored for the Big Green.
Eight players tallied a draw control for the Big Green as Maya Kendall led the way with nine. Mia Jensen and Sarah Caulkins each collected three in the win.
Ellie Burdick, Jensen, Caroline Kendall, and Madeleine Chun each tallied one caused turnover. Puccio had a team high four ground balls while Myers and Small each had a pair.
Ruby Lucken made five saves in the first half before Jordan Healy took over for nearly 31 minutes. Healy made a pair of saves before Julia Fortier played the final 2:30.
Dartmouth tied its season high with 23 goals, the Big Green are 7-0 this season when scoring 15 or more goals.
The Big Green allowed just 17 shots attempts with 10 being on goal. Dartmouth tallied 42 shot attempts with 29 shots on goal.
Dartmouth returns to Scully-Fahey Field on Saturday, April 18 at Noon for the home finale. The Big Green host Columbia, the game will be broadcast on both ESPN+ and NESN+.
