PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Dartmouth women's lacrosse fell to Brown 12-9 on Saturday in Providence.
The Bears took an early lead at the 13:22 mark as they opened the scoring. Less than three minutes later, the Big Green answered as Madeline Egan tied the game at one. Neither team scored against until the 3:41 mark as Charlotte Myers gave the Big Green the lead. Brown scored twice in the last two minutes of the quarter to take a 3-2 lead to the second quarter.
Brown made is 4-2 game just 1:04 into the second quarter but the duo of Samantha Bennett and Mia Puccio scored back-to-back goals at the 7:14 and 6:30 marks to tie the game at four. Brown then scored back-to-back goals to take a 6-4 lead with 3:01 left in the second quarter. Puccio scored a the 2:21 mark before Catherine Erb tied the game at six with three seconds left in the half.
2:21 into the third quarter, Egan gave the Big Green the 7-6 lead. Despite the lead, the Bears scored four straight goals while keeping Dartmouth off the board for the rest of the third quarter.
Both teams scored twice in the fourth quarter with Erb scoring at the 4:27 mark and Bennett scoring with 1:39 left. Despite the late goal, Dartmouth could not mount a comeback.
Ruby Lucken started in the cage for the Big Green as she made eight saves.
Dartmouth outshot Brown 32-27 in shot attempts while outshooting the Bears 18-14 in shots on goal.
Egan, Erb, Bennett, and Puccio all scored twice while Myers added one goal. Myers had a team high three points as she notched a pair of assists.
Maya Kendall tallied 13 draw controls, she has recorded 10 or more draw controls in seven games this season.
Lauren Riley and Ellie Burdick were both credited with a pair of caused turnovers while Dartmouth notched eight caused turnovers.
Dartmouth closes out non-conference play on Tuesday, April 14 against UMass Lowell. The opening draw is set for 6 PM at Cushing Field in Lowell, Mass.
