Sailing - Open & Women's
vs Harry Anderson Trophy
Why Dartmouth?
When I visited Dartmouth for the first time I was struck by how happy all of the students were; it was the atmosphere that drew me toward Dartmouth. However, I am still a little bit baffled that I ended up here. Coming from California, I used to consider anything below 45°F cold and I was afraid of temperatures in the negatives. I'm very happy, though, and so far it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made
How long have you been sailing and what got you interested in sailing?
I had very little sailing experience before coming to Dartmouth, but I've always loved water sports so I decided to try sailing my freshman fall and really enjoyed my first few weeks with the team. Now I love it--I look forward to going out on the water every day, and I love windy days and going fast.
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
I started riding horses when I was 10 years old and quickly fell in love with the sport. In high school I had a horse named Balius that I competed in show jumping classes with in the US and Canada. I sadly sold him before coming to Dartmouth, but this past summer I started playing polo.
What are your future plans, if any?
I'm still undecided about what I'll be doing after Dartmouth. Right now, I'm most looking forward to winter term when I'll be in South Africa interning with Oceans Research working on the White Shark Project--it'll be like Shark Week for a whole term!
