HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth junior goalkeeper Lauren Balukjian (Greenville, R.I.) made a career-high 13 saves but the Big Green field hockey team fell to Ivy foe Harvard, 3-0, at Scully-Fahey Field.
The Big Green fell to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the league with the loss. Senior Aliaa Remtilla (Vancouver, B.C.) made six stops for Harvard (10-6, 5-1 Ivy).
Senior Shelley Maasdorp (Harare, Zimbabwe) increased her league-leading totals in goals and points with a pair of direct corner goals in the first half. At the 8:38 mark, Massdorp deposited a push from junior Jen McDavitt (Walpole, Mass.) and a stop from senior Kate Gannon (Bethesda, Md.) in the back of the net before the trio hooked up again in the same fashion at 16:03. Maasdorp now has 17 goals and 39 points.
Just 8:32 into the second period, sophomore Gretchen Fuller (Shaker Heights, Ohio) found the back of the cage off another assist from McDavitt. It was McDavitt's league-leading 17th helper, one more than Gannon.
Dartmouth's best opportunity of the first half came at the 13:50 mark when senior Ashley Choren (Greenwood Village, Colo.) hit the post while being pressured from Remtilla. After collecting two shots and no penalty corners in the first half, the Big Green turned up the pressure, firing seven shots in Remtilla's direction while picking up four corners in the second half.
The Big Green finishes its regular-season home schedule tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Holy Cross. Harvard's regular season ends next Saturday versus Columbia at 12 p.m.
