AMHERST, Mass. - The Dartmouth field hockey team snapped a four-game win streak by the UMass Minutewomen with a 2-1 double overtime victory on Wednesday at UMass' Garber Field. Lizzie Bildner (Manchester, Mass.) scored both Big Green goals. Whitney Waugh (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) assisted on Bildner's first strike.
With the win Dartmouth improves to 6-7 while UMass falls to 6-10.
The Big Green, though outshot 23-15, made the most of its opportunities. In goal for the Green was Lauren Balukjian (Greenville, R.I.) who made 11 saves. Dartmouth had seven penalty corners to UMass' five.
The Minutewomen got on the board first when Racheal Mervine scored 28:36 into the contest. Bildner tied things up 63:11 in the second period. Then with 5:17 remaining in the second overtime Bildner scored the unassisted game winner.
Dartmouth will be back in action on Saturday in a homecoming matchup with Columbia at 12:00 at Scully Fahey Field.
