NEW YORK, N.Y. - Despite a trio of individual winners, the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team lost its dual meet with Columbia this afternoon, falling to the Lions, 185-113.
The Big Green had winners in the 200 yard backstroke, the 500 yard freestyle, and the 100 yard butterfly, but it wasn't enough to overcome Columbia.
Junior Melissa Kern (Saltsburg, Pa.) got things started for Dartmouth, winning the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:09.09, overtaking Columbia's Hannah Galey in the final 50 yards to win the event.
Freshman Katie Morrison (Skillman, N.J.) took first place in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.61. Senior Nicole Zarba (Beverly, Mass.) made it a one-two finish in the event for the Big Green, taking second place in 5:15.89.
Junior Lizzie Rippe (Colleyville, Texas) was the third individual winner for Dartmouth, winning the 100 fly in 59.44.
Dartmouth's next action will take place at the Las Vegas International on December 16-18 as part of the team's winter training trip.
