HANOVER, N.H. -- Senior Katieanne Christian (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) each scored three goals as the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team stayed perfect with a 13-8 win over Cornell on Saturday.
Christian scored the game's first two goals as No. 7 Dartmouth raced out to an 8-3 lead at halftime.
The No. 13 Big Red (4-5 overall, 1-2 Ivy) couldn't get closer than four goals in the second half. That came when Cornell's Kristen Smith had an unassisted tally with 19:08 to play, as Dartmouth maintained an 11-7 lead.
Douthett had her third of the game six minutes later for a 12-7 advantage before Smith and Dartmouth's Kristen Barry traded goals to account for all the scoring.
Christian added two assists to her total, while Douthett had one. Sophomore Jen Pittman (New Canaan, Conn.), sophomore Sarah Szefi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior Annie Leibovitz (Boulder, Colo.) each had two goals for the Big Green.
With a 9-0 record, Dartmouth is easily off to the best start in the program's 32-year history. "I just feel that this team is really responding well to making progress each week in practice and then implementing that in games," said head coach Amy Patton, now in her 13th season for the Big Green. "And I feel like we are so focused on ourselves that it's really helping us in games. We're not getting completely focused on the opponent."

The Big Green continues to show its balance on the attack as seven different players scored a point. "Our offense this year is effective because all seven players can score and all seven can assist. That's a really tough offense to stop."
Dartmouth goalkeeper Devon Wills (Denver, Colo.) went the route, making 11 saves, including nine in the second half. At the other end, Cornell's Maggie Fava had five stops.
For the Big Red, Smith, a senior, had three goals.
Christian had an outstanding afternoon for Dartmouth, contributing seven caused turnovers, five ground balls and two draw controls.
Dartmouth has five of the next seven games at home, beginning with Tuesday's 3 p.m. contest against No. 17 Syracuse.
