HANOVER, N.H. -- With 36 of the scheduled 54 holes in the books, the Big Green men's golf team is in third place at its own Dartmouth Invitational at Hanover Country Club.
Johnson & Wales University (North Miami, Florida), the 2005 NAIA national champion, is at the top with 587, followed by Central Connecticut at 604. Dartmouth is third with 608, one shot ahead of Binghamton and three ahead of Yale in the 13-team field.
Dartmouth sophomore Jamie Wallace (Moorestown, N.J.) is tied for second after the first day of competition with rounds of 72-73--145. Adam Scrimenti of Johnson & Wales leads with a one-over par score of 143 (70-73), while teammate James Renner is at 145 (69-76).
In the top 20 for the Big Green are the senior co-captains, Kenan Yount (Augusta, Ga.), 79-71--150, and Chaki Kobayashi (Newington, Conn.), 78-75--153.
The Big Green is fielding two teams of five in the tournament, and Dartmouth's second squad currently is ninth with 635.
The tournament concludes Monday with 18 holes.
