HANOVER, N.H. -- The Big Green men's golf team jumped up one spot after the final 18 holes, finishing second at its own Dartmouth Invitational on Monday.
With sophomore Jamie Wallace (Moorestown, N.J.) shooting a three-under par 68, Dartmouth posted a 54-hole score of 898 for runner-up honors. Johnson & Wales (North Miami, Florida), the 2005 NAIA national champion, led from start to finish with 873.
The Dartmouth showing was a strong one for first-year Coach Rich Parker's squad that finished three shots ahead of Central Connecticut. A total of 12 teams competed. After the opening 36 holes on Sunday, the Big Green was in third place.
Wallace's 68 gave him a 54-hole total of 213, one stroke behind medalist Adam Scrimenti of Johnson & Wales. Wallace eagled the par five 15th hole at Hanover Country Club, holing out a shot from the fairway.
Also finishing among the top 20 were Dartmouth senior Chaki Kobayashi (Newington, Conn.), tied for 15th with 227, junior Matt Uretsky (Linwood, N.J.), 18th at 229, and senior Kenan Yount (Augusta, Ga.), 19th at 230.
Dartmouth is back in action on September 24-25, competing at the Central Connecticut Invitational.
