ITHACA, N.Y. -- A rush of goals by Cornell early in the second half propelled the Big Red over Dartmouth, 5-2, in their final game of the season. The Big Green close out the year with a 3-14 overall record, and a 1-6 mark in the Ivies.
The Big Green held nothing back in the first half out shooting Cornell 9-5, and earning five penalty corners to the Big Red's one. But it was Cornell who struck first at the 16:50 mark of the first stanza. Sophomore Helena Haas took a pass from Abbi Horn and found the back of the cage, beating Big Green net minder
Ashley Heist (Bryn Mawr, Pa.).
The two teams' back and forth battle produced a one-goal game going into half time, with the Big Reds only goal coming as the difference maker.
The second half started off going the way of the Big Red. Cornell managed to rack up four goals in just six minutes of play, to kill Dartmouth's morale. The four second half tallies all came from different players, as the Big Red spread out their attack. Brenna Gulotta, Alyssa DePaola, Lizzie Auer and Lindsay Moyer were the goalscores that gave Cornell a 5-0 lead.

The Big Green weren't going to give up their second half chances though. Junior captain
Whitney Waugh (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) found the net, when she rifled a shot off a corner opportunity past Big Red goalie Lizzie Goldblatt.
Just two minutes later, on another penalty corner, it was Waugh again who found defender
Megan Strout (St. Louis, Mo.) who buried it past Goldblatt to record her first goal of the season. Strout was also credited with a defensive save in the game.
Strout's goal closed out the days scoring, and gave Cornell the 5-2 win. Both Heist and Goldblatt each recorded six saves for their squads.
