Dartmouth Field Hockey Loses in Overtime to Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped an overtime contest to Ivy League opponent Princeton by the score of 2-1.
The Big Green opened the scoring in the 17^th minute as Lizzie Bildner (Manchester, Mass.) took a pass from freshman Allison Weinstock (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and beat Princeton's goaltender Allison Nemeth. This goal was Bildners' third of the season, and was Weinstocks' first ever collegiate point.

The Tigers evened the score with just over four minutes to play in the game as Princeton's Tina Bortz picked up a loose ball in front of the cage and tipped it in past Big Green net minder Ashley Heist (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) to send the game into overtime.

In the fourth minute of the overtime period the Tigers claimed victory as Micaela Vie Brock deflected a shot from Bortz into the back of the net.

On the day the Tigers out shot Dartmouth 22-5, as well as having 18 penalty corner opportunities to the Big Greens two. Dartmouths Heist recorded four saves on the day, while Nemeth stopped one.

With the loss the Big Green drop to 0-4 on the season, and 0-2 in league play. The squad is in action again this Wednesday Sept. 20, as they play host to the University of Massachusetts at Scully-Fahey field. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
