HANOVER, N.H. – Four first place finishes in four events from sophomore
Heather Jankins (Raynham, Mass.) helped the Big Green women's swimming and diving team defeat the Catamounts of Vermont, 186-114, Wednesday night at Karl Michael Pool.
Jankins got the evening started placing first in the opening event; the 400-medley relay. In her next two events, the 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle, Jankins also finished ahead of the pack. Then capped the night off in her fourth and final event placing first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.20, which is good for eight all-time in Big Green history.
Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) gave three first place efforts on the night in the 200 butterfly, the 100 freestyle and the 400 individual medley, aiding the Big Green to victory.
Senior captain
Melissa Kern (Saltsburg, Pa.) also added two first place finishes for her squad, placing top in the 1650 freestyle and the 200 backstroke.
On the boards, freshman
Kathleen Brady (Upland, Calif.) swept, placing first in both the one and three-meter diving.
The Big Green had first places in 12 of the meet's 15 events, carrying the squad to their third win of the season.
The team will be back in the pool this weekend as they travel down to Boston University on Jan. 13. That meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
