HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth Women's Squash team opened up its home season on Wednesday at the Racquet Center at Berry Sports Center with a 6-3 loss to Harvard before defeating Tufts, 9-0.
"Despite losing to Harvard it was probably the closest we've played them in a long time," said head coach John Power. "It was good to rebound with a win over Tufts."
The three Big Green wins against the Crimson were at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 9. Ashley Malenchak won her match at No. 3, 9-4, 9-4, 6-9 and 9-3 while No. 4 was won by Hannah Conant (9-2, 9-1, 3-9 and 9-6). The No. 9 spot was won by Elizabeth Weintraub, 9-4, 9-0 and 9-0. Several of the matches were close as Libbey Brown took her opponent to five games with Rebecca Louks winning a game.
In the second match Dartmouth handed Tufts a 9-0 win as the Big Green won at all spots. The only game that the Jumbos won a game was at No. 9 otherwise Dartmouth won all matches in three games.
The Big Green will be off until Jan. 11-13 when Dartmouth competes at the Maine Invitational.
