HANOVER, N.H. - Senior
Nick Bonacci (Crofton, Md.) of Dartmouth men's lacrosse earned two awards recently presented by the team.
Twice a first team All-Ivy honoree, Bonacci was given the Tom Dent Award as the Big Green's most valuable player and the offensive MVP award. With 158 career points, Bonacci is Dartmouth's fifth all-time leading scorer. He was fourth in career assists (80) and 16th in career goals (78).
Senior tri-captain
Ryan O'Connor (Babylon, N.Y.) was presented the Big Green's defensive MVP award for the second straight season. A four-year letterwinner, he started all 15 games for Dartmouth this spring, including 30 of 32 in the past three seasons.
Another senior tri-captain,
Wilson Handler (Weston, Conn.), was honored with the Coaches Award. It is given annually to the person contributing to the overall team effort, and whose enthusiasm, assistance and interest for the program is a great asset. A midfielder, Handler was tied for fourth place in scoring with 14 goals and two assists.
The Jenkins Marshall Award for freshman of the year went to
Ari Sussman (New Haven, Conn.). The rookie started all 15 games for Dartmouth and topped the team in scoring with 33 goals and 17 assists for 50 points. Earlier, he was voted honorable mention All-Ivy and the Ivy rookie of the year.
Two players shared the Dud Hendrick Award as the most improved players. Sophomores
Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.) and
Jonathan Livadas (Wilmington, Del.) were honored for their efforts this season. Koch was the Big Green's second-leading scorer with 33 goals and 16 assists for 49 points, while Livadas was tied for fourth with 11 goals and five assists.
Two other awards were presented. Sophomore
Doug Rendall (Langhorne, Pa.) - captain of the 2008 Dartmouth team - was honored for dedication and sacrifice, while the "blue collar" or "Charlie Hustle" award went to junior
Chad Gaudet (Saugus, Mass.). Due to injury, Gaudet missed virtually all of the 2005 and 2006 football seasons, and recovered to start seven of 14 lacrosse games this spring.
