HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth men's lacrosse closed out the home portion of its schedule against No. 6 Cornell on Saturday. Dartmouth fell 15-9 to the defending national champions.
Cornell scored the first two goals of the game at the 8:26 and 6:23 marks. The Big Green scored the next four goals. Alex Jessey got the Big Green on the board at the 3:29 mark of the first before Stu Gates tied the game at two at the 2:27 mark. With 27 seconds left in the first quarter Quinn Stankovits gave Dartmouth the lead.
William Stahl gave Dartmouth a 4-2 lead the 13:34 mark of the second quarter. Cornell scored the other four goals of the second quarter and took a 6-4 lead to the halftime break.
The Big Green outscored the Big Red 3-1 in the third quarter. Thomas Vandenberg scored at the 12:36 mark before Jessey scored back-to-back goals at the 12:08 and 9:32 marks. Cornell tied the game at seven with 2:38 left in the third quarter.
With the game tied at seven, the Big Red scored the first five goals of the fourth quarter before Stankovits scored at the 8:23 mark. Cornell scored six seconds later to take the five goal lead back. With 2:13 left, defender Jesse Phelan scored his first career goal as Dartmouth looked for a comeback. Cornell put the game away with a pair of goals in the final 1:15.
Max Becker made 11 saves on 26 shots on goal for the Big Green, he has 131 saves this season. He has made double digit saves in seven games this season.
Jessey and Stankovits were the only two Big Green players with multiple points. Jessey had three goals and two assists while Stankovits had a pair of goals.
Will Cohen had a team high five ground balls while Jack Mulholland had four. Stahl, Jessey, and Becker each had three ground balls.
Dartmouth tallied 11 caused turnovers, Phelan had four for the Big Green while seven players had one.
The Big Green close the 2026 season on Saturday, April 25 at Princeton. Faceoff is set for 4 PM in New Jersey.
