CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Dartmouth men's lacrosse fell to Virginia 18-7 on Monday night in Charlottesville.
The Cavaliers opened the game with the first two goals before William Stahl got the Big Green on the board at the 5:08 mark.
UVA went on to take a 7-1 lead with five straight goals and lead by six after 15 minutes.
Virginia scored the first three goals of the second quarter to take a 10-1 lead. At the 6:46 mark, Alex Jessey scored the second Dartmouth goal. After UVA took the nine goal lead back Emmett Paradine and Jessey scored twice in the final 30 seconds of the first half.
The Cavaliers scored the lone three goals of the third quarter and took a 15-4 lead to the fourth quarter.
Mitchell Monte scored the first goal of the fourth quarter for the Big Green. After two goals from UVA, Stu Gates and Quinn Stankovits scored back to back goals for the Big Green.
Virginia added one more goal to close the game.
Max Becker started in the cage and made three saves. Kevin Bryan played the final 36 minutes of the game and made nine saves.
Gates, Monte, and Jessey each had two points for the Big Green as Jessey was the only multi-goal scorer.
Raegan Spencer won 13 faceoffs while collecting a team high seven groundballs. Jesse Phelan picked up four groundballs while Thomas Goguen and Kevin Bryan collected three groundballs.
The Big Green return to Hanover to take on Penn on Saturday, Mar. 28 at 1 PM. Dartmouth will be hosting its annual Youth Lacrosse Day at Sully-Fahey Field.
