Dartmouth Women's Squash Set to Play in Maine Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's and women's squash teams travel to Maine this weekend to take part in the Maine Invitational Squash Tournament. The teams will each play four matches in three days. This will be Dartmouth's first competition since battling Tufts back on Nov. 28 in which the men won 7-2 and the women won 9-0.

Dartmouth will begin the invitational weekend by traveling to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine on Friday, January 11, to go up against the Bobcats of Bates in what should be a great way to start off the invitational. The match begins at 7 p.m.

Dartmouth will then head to Colby College in Waterville, Maine, to face the Mules of Colby at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Following the Colby match, the Big Green will have to travel to Brunswick, Maine, to go up against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at 4 p.m. also on Saturday.

The last game of the invitational will take place on Sunday at 10 a.m., putting the Big Green up against Stanford. Dartmouth is fortunate not to have to travel again as this match will be played at Bowdoin. According to coach John Power, “This match will be the toughest one on the weekend for us.” This match begins at 10 a.m.

The Previous Bates/Dartmouth Match
Last year the Dartmouth women beat Bates 9-0 in the Dartmouth Fall Classic in mid-November. The match was held in the Berry Sports Center.

Last year the Dartmouth men also proved their dominance against Bates, winning 8-1 in the Dartmouth Fall Classic as well.

The Previous Colby/Dartmouth Match
The last time the Dartmouth women went up against the Mules was February 2, 2003 at home. The Big Green women won 8-1.

Last year the Dartmouth men beat the Mules 9-0 at home.

The Previous Bowdoin/Dartmouth Match
The last time the Dartmouth women went up against the Polar Bears was Nov. 19 of last season. The Big Green women won 9-0.

Last year the Dartmouth men beat the Polar Bears 7-2 at home.

The Previous Rochester/Dartmouth Match

The last time the Big Green men went up against the Yellowjackets was Jan. 19, 1997 at Rochester. The Big Green men won 8-1.
