NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team fell at Yale in a dual meet with the Bulldogs and the Quakers of Penn on Saturday afternoon. The Big Green fell to Yale, 225-75, and to Penn, 210-90.
Dartmouth got third place finishes in both the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of sophomore Carolyn Rippe (Cooleyville, Texas), junior Heather Jankins (Raynham, Mass.), senior co-captain Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) and junior Hillary Preston (Medina, Wash.) swam with a time of 1:51.25 in the 200 yard medley relay.
Preston and a team of freshmen with Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.), Anna Sonstegard (Sioux Falls, S.D.), and Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) finished the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:40.51.
In individaul events, Jankins was the teams high placer with a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.60, while Steiner placed third in the same event, just thirteen tenths of a second behind Jankins at 53.73.
Mancuso tied Jankins for the top finish after a hard fought effort with a second place swim in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.02.
In diving action, senior Julianne Mifflin (Greenwich, Conn.) placed second in the 1-meter with a score of 232.80,Also placing was freshman Bridget Duffey (Boxford, Mass.), who took fourth with a score of 228.06. She also placed fifth in the 3-meter with a score of 215.04.
Dartmouth will be back in action on Sunday, January 27, as the Big Green host Princeton and New Hampshire in a dual meet, beginning at 11 a.m. at Karl Michael Pool.
