Hello Friends,
The Fall season ended yesterday with a 4th place finish at the New England Championships. We went to bed after round one in 2nd place and came up a little shy on day two.We had a chance and that has always been one of our goals. Forty-four teams participated this week and Dartmouth has not hoisted the winners mug since 1937. We are closing in on it.
Rutgers: We finished 10 out of 24 and played excellent golf on the final day, led by freshman Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.).
Dartmouth Invite: The home team lost to Bryant College in a barn burner by 2 strokes and was an exciting weekend kicked off by the Alumni Tourney on Friday which was won by the current team by one stroke. That will not happen again if we get people involved. The event will always be the 3rd Friday of September and the day before our own tournament. So make your reservations Now. Williamson shot 72,66 to win by 4 on the individual side.
Cornell: Finished in fourth place out of 15 teams. Rained out the final 36 holes. We managed to beat Cornell, Princeton and Penn. Senior Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) played well and has made a wonderful comeback.
Yale: 9th out of 15. Did not play well and really never competed as we would have liked.
Things are looking up for our kids who are led by freshman Williamson and sophomore Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.).Seniors Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Abate have had visions of greatness. We seem to always be looking for that 4th score and that really puts pressure on all the kids.Everyone has had a fair shot and I am hoping someone will fill the final slot this coming spring.
For those who attended the Alumni tourney this year, I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It meant alot to the kids and the world to me.
Spring Break is around the corner and we are exploring a trip to the Dominican Republic or a trip to Pheonix. Both places will offer a wonderful experience for the kids and it is only made possible by you.
I truly we believe that we are knocking on the door. I have some excellent recruits for next season and the other teams are starting to notice us.
I hope you will all be here on our quest to the promise land,b ecause that is where we are headed.
Thanks for the Emails, letters and support.
Happy Holidays from all of us.
Coach Parker and the whole crew.
