NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Only three golfers posted a better score than freshman Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) in the final round of the Yale Invitational on Sunday as the local product helped Dartmouth finish in ninth place in the 15-team field. With his two-over 72, he completed the tournament at nine-over par (76-71-72=219) to tie for 12th place overall.
Oklahoma took the team title with an 860 (+20) while Bryant's Jason Thresher took medalist honors with two of his three rounds under par, scoring 71-68-69=208 (-2).
Of the 15 teams participating, all but two posted their worst rounds on Sunday, and unfortunately, Dartmouth was no exception with a 311 (+31). Sophomore Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) was the only other Big Green golfer besides Williams to shoot under 80 on Sunday, tying for 29th place (78-71-77=219).
Dartmouth has a week off before its final tournament of the fall, the NEIGA Championships on Oct. 20-21.
