HANOVER, N.H. ? The awards keep coming for sophomore Virginia Peisch (Koenigstein, Germany) as she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Second Team All-Northeast Region.
For Peisch, it is her second major award this season after being named a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection as a midfielder. She broke the Dartmouth single season assist record with 16, surpassing Lauren Scopaz, who tallied 14 in 1998. She also led the Ivy League with those 16 helpers and was a two-time member of the Ivy League honor roll. She posted seven multi-point games, including a three-point effort against Penn. Four of her seven multi-point games came against Ivy opponents and she has played in every game for the Big Green in her two years.
She was one of four Ivy Leaguers on the second team, joining Harvard's Carly Dickson and Brown's Sara Eaton and Kim Katsuk.
Currently Peisch is in San Juan, Argentina, competing for the United States in the 2008 Indoor Field Hockey Pan-American Cup. The games start on Wednesday as the United States takes on Mexico in the first game of pool play at 4 p.m.
