NEW YORK, N.Y.
? The Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team challenged throughout its meet
with Columbia,
but fell, 173-123, to the Lions in its final regular-season meet.
Junior Kevin Ellis (Centennial, Colo.) led the way for the Big Green with
wins in two events. Ellis took the 1000 yard freestyle with a season-best time
of 9:40.00, while classmate Porter Diehl (West
Windsor, N.J.) came
in second with his season-best time of 9:41.67. Ellis also captured the 500
yard freestyle, swimming to a time of 4:41.30.
Junior Andrew Ballentine (Pendleton,
Ind.) earned a big win in the 200 yard
individual medley with a time of 2:00.16 and senior Gordon Russell (Glen Ellyn, Ill.)
took second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.19 and first in the
200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.48.
Dartmouth dominated in diving
action, going 1-2-3 in the 3-meter dive with senior Andrew Berry
(Middleton, Wis.) taking the top spot with a score of 292.35.
Freshman Michael Brown (Newton, Mass.) and senior Dan Weisman (Newton, Mass.)
took second and third, respectively. Brown scored a 280.13, while Weisman
earned third with a score of 255.83.
Berry
also finished first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 312.90.
Dartmouth wrapped up its regular-season
at Columbia and
will be in action again at the EISL Championships on March 6-8 at Harvard.
