Dartmouth Men's and Women's Squash Fall to Princeton, Rebound Against Middlebury

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's and women's squash teams fell to Princeton, 9-0, but rebounded to defeat Middlebury, 9-0, in the Big Green's second match of the afternoon.
In the first matches of the day, both the Dartmouth men and and women fell to Princeton, 9-0. The Big Green struggled against the powerful Tigers at every position, winning just two games. On the women's side, Christie Alexander (Cincinnati, Ohio) had the best showing for Dartmouth at number two, winning 9-6, 7-9, 2-9. For the men, Steve Preefer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was Dartmouth's best finisher, falling 2-9, 9-8, 0-9.
Against Middlebury, all positions earned convincing 3-0 wins in every match, including a win at No. 1 from senior Adam King (Oromocto, N.B.). Junior Tyler Young (Charleston, S.C.) was impressive at No. 4 with two shutout games in his own 3-0 victory. Freshman Benjamin Gettinger (Wilton, Conn.) also earned two shutout games and only gave up one point in all three games.
On the women's side, it was also a dominating performance from the Big Green as Dartmouth only gave up one game at all positions. The one game came in No. 1 play as junior Madeline Lurio (Merion, Pa.) dripped the first game, but came back by winning three-straight.
Three different Dartmouth players posted two shutout games, including freshman Maura Doherty (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who only gave up two points in three games in the fifth spot. Sophomores Elizabeth Weintraub (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Hillary Becker (Lawrenceville, N.J.) both recorded convincing wins at the sixth and ninth spot, respectively.
Dartmouth will be back in action tomorrow morning as Penn makes a stop at the Berry Sports Center for a 11 a.m. start.
