Hello Big Green golf fans,
We just wrapped up the 2008 season and although things did not go as well as expected,we have become a better team.Heading to the Ivies,I felt like we were the 7th best team on paper, and if we played really well we could have snuck into 4th.The rest of the league improved and it made for great competition. There was no clear favorite this year, which gave us all some real hope.We played badly in the first round and had to play catch up the rest of the way.We shot the 2nd low round on Sunday only to finish in the 7th spot.
I know the kids were disappointed, but the reality is, is that two kids cannot win a college team golf tournament and that has been our downfall. I feel bad for our kids that we just never put together that team round that we all dream about. The talent is here and there is more on the way.
Next year looks very promising for the Big Green and everyone involved is excited. Two new kids will arrive in Sept. and with sophomore Davis Mullany coming off a great freshman year I am expecting big things.
The sad news is that we have to say goodbye to our four year standout Jamie Wallace.Time goes by so fast and I cannot begin to tell you what Jamie has meant to the program and to me personally in my three years as coach. It will take a while for another Jamie Wallace to come around. For that matter, it may never happen.
John Mitchell will also be graduating and his wit and humor will never leave our memories.Great kid to have on the team and was my # 1 recruitor on campus. John will work in New York City next year and Jamie is still looking. He would make one of you very happy :)
Once again, the team and I would like to thank all of the supporters of Dartmouth golf. You make all of the fun things that we get to do, possible. We are excited for the day that we can add winning to the list of great things that happen here at Dartmouth. I know it is possible and you should too.
Thanks again for a fun year.
Coach Parker
