HANOVER, N.H. - For the sixth-straight year, the Dartmouth women's tennis team has been named to the 2008 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and five athletes also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average in to the GPA for the current academic year.
Dartmouth was one of 102 teams to earn the honor and one of seven from the Ivy League.
The Big Green also garnered individual awards with five athletes were selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Recent graduates, Catja Carrell (Benshelm, Germany) and Megan Zebroski (Port Washington, N.Y.) headline the list with senior Jamie Caplan (Oakton, Va.) and juniors Carley Markovitz (South Pasadena, Calif.) and Julia Zak (Bernardsville, N.J.).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet three criteria. They must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
