HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth women's golf team shot a school-record 308 on day one of the Dartmouth Invitational to take a three-stroke lead over Brown in the 17-team field at Hanover Country Club. Senior Lauren Strickler (Akron, Ohio) and sophomore Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) each shot a three-over 75 to tie for third individually, leading the Big Green to the top spot on Saturday.
Siena's Katelynn Mannix was the only individual to shoot under par with a one-under 71 to pace the field of 93. Christine Cho of Harvard finished the day in second place at one-over par with a 73, but she was competing as an individual, leaving her score out of the Crimson's third-place team score of 314.
A pair of Big Green freshmen performed well in their collegiate debut. Nicole Paton (London, England) and Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) both shot a seven-over 79 to contribute to Dartmouth's leading score. Senior Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.) posted an 80 to round out the Dartmouth squad.
The Big Green will attempt to hold on to their top spot in the final round tomorrow morning beginning at 8 a.m.
