Men Hold a Six-Stroke Lead in Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth had four of the top 10 finishers of the first day of the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club on Saturday as the Big Green led the nine-team field with a team total of 298 (+14). Bryant trailed by six strokes, followed by Quinnipiac nine strokes back on the par 71, 6,472-yard course.

For the second straight week, freshman Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) shined brightest for Dartmouth, shooting a one-over 72 for the best score of the day. Sophomore Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) was right on his heels, tying for second with Bryant's Scott Congdon and Quinnipiac's Brady Giroux at two-over par. Also tying for second was Big Green senior Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.), who was playing solely as an individual, leaving his score off the team ledger.

The other top-10 finisher for Dartmouth was sophomore Ryan Choi (Carlsbad, Calif.) who shot a 76 (+5) to tie for 10th. Senior Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) tied for 16th at six-over par, while junior Shunsuke Aonoma (Honolulu, Hawaii) rounded out the team with a 79, tying for 21st place.

Joining Abate as individuals in the competition were freshman Teddy Overton (Paradise Vally, Ariz.), who tied for 19th with a seven-over 78, and junior Dave Putney (Unionville, Conn.), who completed his round with an 80.

The Dartmouth Invitational will conclude on Sunday with tee times slated to begin in the morning.
