HANOVER, N.H. — After taking this weekend off, the Dartmouth men's golf team will play in the first annual Ivy League Match Play Championship the weekend of Oct. 16-18 at The Bay Club in Mattapoissett, Mass. The Big Green will be paired against Harvard in the first round of play beginning Saturday morning.
The weekend will begin with a College-Am on Friday in a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. with lunch provided before the event. Each team can invite six alumni, parents or friends to participate in the College-Am, with the proceeds benefitting that team by covering the cost of the tournament. The entry fee for the College-Am is $300 per person, $100 of which will be deducted from the school's tournament entry fee of $700. The six guests will be paired with two golfers from the team in a net best ball format, with the student-athlete playing to scratch. The remaining three team members will play a practice round.
On Saturday, the matches will be played in twosomes, starting on the first and 10th holes, beginning at 8 a.m. One point will be awarded for each match victory, and the first team to achieve three points wins. Should Dartmouth defeat the Crimson, it would play the winner of the match between Penn and Cornell that afternoon. The championship match will take place on Sunday morning, while the other teams will play as well to determine placing for all eight teams.
